Terroir and wine making

Between the sea and the Iblei mountains, about 80 meters above sea level, grow the Nero d'Avola and Frappato grapes with which the excellent Cerasuolo di Vittoria Planeta is produced. Here, in one of the most renowned areas of Sicily, in the Dorilli countryside, the winery collects every year the fruits of its work, on vines raised with spurred cordon. The peculiarity of the soil and climate give the wine that recognizable cherry scent that distinguishes it especially when it is young. The destemming of the berries is followed by 14 days of permanence on the skins and by fermentation in stainless steel tanks at 23ºC. The pressing is particularly soft and is carried out with the vertical press. Finally, the aging in steel tanks.

Taste notes

Cerasuolo di Vittoria Planeta has a ruby red color enriched by delicate black cherry reflections. Intriguing with its energetic scent of berries, strawberries, mulberry and pomegranate, it anticipates the pleasant sensation that gives the palate with its fleshy notes to the taste of black pepper, carob and black cherry.

Wine at the table

At the table the Cerausuolo di Vittoria Planeta can be pleasantly enjoyed with a slice of fresh tuna or with a dish of sautéed mushrooms. It is also excellent with game dishes and pizza.

Curiosity

The name of Cerasuolo di Vittoria derives from 'cerasa', a term used to indicate cherry in Sicilian dialect.
