Terroir and wine making

From only Frappato Vittoria DOC grapes comes this lovely wine signed Poggio di Bortolone. The vineyards grow on a sandy and red soil, rich in sloping skeleton, facing southwest at an altitude of 260 meters above sea level. The vines are cultivated with a classic Guyot system. The destemmed grapes ferment at 18-20 ºC and macerate for over 18 days. The malolactic fermentation is followed by 3 months of aging in steel and a further aging in bottle of about 2 months.

Taste notes

Frappato Poggio di Bortolone has a very clear ruby red color and gives off intense aromas of red fruits such as cherries, blueberries, raspberries and blackberries. Fresh and lively on the palate, it has a modest tannin and a subtle and continuous structure.

Wine at the table

Frappato is great to accompany dishes based on blue fish, such as pasta with sardines and wild fennel.

Curiosity

Poggio di Bortolone has a long history that began already in the eighteenth century, when the ancestors of the Cosenza family acquired the fief. Since then, the company has been handed down to this day proudly maintaining the family tradition.
