Terroir and wine-making

The historic winery Cà dei Frati has had the unquestionable ability to understand the potential of a terroir mainly relegated to the cultivation of white grape varieties. The Dal Cero family has seen the possibility of producing in the renowned area of Lugana di Sirmione a red wine that would be powerful and full-bodied.

The wine Cà dei Frati Ronchedone is born from the union of Marzemino, Sangiovese and Cabernet grapes that grow on the southern shores of Lake Garda. The prolonged maceration on the skins and the aging first in barrique for 14 months and then in bottle for another 10 months, gives this red wine a particular organoleptic thickness that makes it worthy representative of the best red wines produced in the area.

Notes of taste

Already with its intense ruby red color, the Ronchedone Cà dei Frati reveals its strong personality of powerful and full-bodied wine. The nose releases notes of red fruits, blueberries and marasca followed by spicy hints and balsamic nuances. It lies on the palate with its savory body but at the same time fresh and its long and persistent finish.

Wine at the table

With its strong personality, the red Ronchedone is suitable for combinations with structured and tasty dishes: among these certainly game and red meat.

Curiosity

The wine Ronchedone Cà dei Frati rosso is an undisputed example of the production capacity of the historic Lombard winery: the winery was already known in 1782 as confirmed by a document that defines it "a house with a cellar called the place of the fratti". She was among the first to discover the potential of the Lake Garda terroir, capable of giving red wines with thickness and body worthy of great Italian wines.
