Terroir and wine-making

A Nero d'Avola vinified in purity that reaches sublime levels. The Lu Patri Baglio del Cristo by Campobello is the result of an effort to find the best expression of the grape. The grapes grow on a deep soil, mixed with limestone and chalk, located at an altitude of 230 to 270 meters above sea level. Here the vines benefit from long summers mitigated by the breeze coming from the sea and excursions between day and night. Every year, when the grapes reach the right ripening, the winemakers of the winery collect and hand-select them by placing them in small boxes. This is the case with destemming and very soft crushing of the berries. The continuous reassembly allows to separate the substances contained in the skins, so as to prepare for 18 days of maceration at controlled temperature. It takes 14 months of ageing in oak barrels and at least 12 in the bottle to obtain a Nero d'Avola that is unparalleled.

Notes of taste

A wine whose intensity is already perceptible to the sight. The nose is complex with hints of ripe fruit, especially black cherry, blackberry and blueberry, accompanied by a base of tobacco, vanilla, nutmeg, licorice and cinnamon. Balsamic and aromatic notes enrich the bouquet, where there are no lack of floral aromas. On the palate it is fresh at the right point, with a tannin that never tires. On the finish it still reminds of spices and fruit and expresses its taste.

Wine at the table

With its aromatic aroma and remarkable persistence, the Nero d'Avola Lu Patri Baglio del Cristo di Campobello is perfect to accompany dishes with a strong flavor, such as first courses with meat sauce, second courses of roast or stewed meat, game and aged cheeses.

Curiosity

Lu Patri in Sicilian means 'the Father' and indicates the 'head-family', called this way with respect and reverence. Baglio del Cristo di Campobello has named his wine to give it a high quality, because of its ability to interpret in a high and sublime way, and without fear of comparisons, one of the most popular grape varieties in Sicily.
