Terroir and wine-making

Donnafugata surprises once again with an exciting and very sharp wine, the typical nuances of Etna explode in a fascinating red: here is the Sul Vulcano Etna Rosso Doc. The wine is made from Nerello Mascalese and Nerello Cappuccio vines, from Eastern Sicily, in the territories between Randazzo and Castiglione di Sicilia. The grapes are harvested at an altitude of 750 meters, from wet soils to sandy texture, in the first decade of October. After a careful selection, the grapes are pressed and left to ferment in steel on skins for 10 days; followed by an aging of 14 months in tanks and French oak and a rest of at least 7 months in bottle.

Notes of taste

Donnafugata’s house wine offers a light ruby red with an elegant bouquet of red fruit, violet flowers and other spices including nutmeg and vanilla. On the Vulcano, it wraps around the palate with its freshness and structure marked by mature tannins and a persistent finish.

Wine at the table

On the Volcano Donnafugata is a versatile wine, it can be combined with appetizers and specialties of the Mediterranean tradition, first dishes with eggplant or mushrooms, roasted meat and served with vegetables and legumes. To be served at a temperature of not more than 18 °C.

Curiosity

On the label appears a goddess-volcano with the typical colors of the territories of Etna: red, black and yellow. The bottle, at first sight, breathes the energy and elegance of these lands in the middle of the Mediterranean.
