Syrah or Shiraz is one the main wine in the gamma Collezione di Famiglia, meaning literally The Family Collection, by Barone Montalto. It is a sicilian red wine with a full body and an intense fragrance, which tastes with harmonic and prefectly balanced flavours and end up in a spicy and toasted notes.

Terroir and vinification

Syrah from Collezione di Famiglia by Barone Montalto is the result of selected grapes, planted in Belice Valley (Valle del Belice), a sicilian area within which you'll breath the typical mediterranean climate. The soil tha hosts the vineyard is dark alluvial with clay high in organic substances. Syrah grapes are kept then for 12-15 days in maceration at the controlled temperature 26°C and they are pumped over on a daily base. In the end the wine is aged in first and second pasage wooden french barriques for 8 months long.

Il Syrah Collezione di Famiglia mostra un colore rosso violaceo molto intenso. Il naso percepisce i suoi inconfondibili aromi di violetta e ribes, insieme a note di liquirizia e pepe nero. Un vino che riempie il palato con la sua pienezza e con tannini armonici che ben si integrano con il finale tostato e speziato.

Il Syrah di Barone Montalto è ottimo gustato insieme a formaggi stagionati, funghi trifolati e selvaggina condita in maniera saporita.
