Terrorism and wine-making
Dea Vulcano is a surprising wine, typical of the territories of Etna. The wine is made from Nerello Mascalese and, in small percentages, from Nerello Cappuccio. The production takes place on the north side of the volcano, near Castiglione di Sicilia. The soil, as is well known, has a lava soil with an excellent organic endowment, while the seasons that characterize these fields are cool, with clear thermal variations between day and night. The harvest of the grapes, between September and October, starts the whole production process: careful selection of the berries with modern destemming, steel fermentation on the peels at a temperature of 25 °C for 8-10 days, aging for 14 months in cement and French oak tanks, and finally rest of at least 10 months in the bottle before marketing.
Notes of taste
Dea Vulcano Etna Rosso Doc offers the taster a light ruby red robe and a delicate bouquet of red and violet fruits, accompanied by slight notes of sweet tobacco and black pepper. The palate is characterized by an impeccable freshness, a fragrance and a softness well linked by a full-bodied and balanced finish.
Wine at the table
Donnafugata red perfectly marries the Mediterranean tradition. At the table we recommend a combination with Italian appetizers, meat dishes and first courses based on vegetables and mushrooms.
Curiosity
The sketch on the label of Etna Rosso Doc depicts the myth of the Goddess Vulcano, to whom they offered libations of aromatic herbs and wine. As then, the Goddess evokes to her mind fragrant and floral essences.
