Terroir and wine-making

In the IGT Sicilian Lands, the Fondo Antico winery cares for the vines of Nero d'Avola, Merlot and Syrah that make the terroir of Marsala their ideal habitat. Once harvested, the grapes are macerated for eight days at a controlled temperature, then continue the vinification with the aging in stainless steel. Thus is born the red wine I Versi, expression of the warmth of a land rich in excellent flavors.

Notes of taste

With an intense ruby red colour, the I Versi Rosso wine is a successful synthesis of the intrinsic qualities of the vines: the aroma of red fruits typical of Nero d'Avola joins the herbaceous notes of Merlot and those of Syrah, for a result that intrigues the taste. On the palate, the combination of the freshness and vivacity of Nero d'Avola with the softness of Merlot and the fine persistence of Syrah give a sip that meets expectations.

Wine at the table

Despite its defined personality, the red I Versi Fondo Antico knows how to be delicate at the right point: it enhances without overpowering the combinations with salami and cheese, with rustic dishes and all preparations with red meat.

Curiosity

The IGT I Versi Rosso wine is an expression of the passion that the Polizzotti Scuderi family has for their land. For six generations, Fondo Antico has been cultivating its vineyards in the territory between Trapani and Marsala, among expanses of figs, olive groves and lemon trees that enrich the Sicilian terroir.
