Terroir and wine-making

La Fuga Donnafugata is a versatile white wine, with an intriguing and multifaceted character. The Chardonnay is born from the Contessa estate, in south-eastern Sicily, at an altitude ranging between 200 and 300 meters above sea level, from franco-clay soils rich in nutrients.

The grapes grow on trellis with pruning in a rammed cord, with a yield of 70 - 80 quintals per hectare, in mild winters and dry and ventilated summers. The production process starts with the harvest of the second half of August, which begins with fermentation in steel at a temperature not exceeding 16 °C, aging in tanks for five months and final resting in bottles before being released to the market.

Notes of taste

In the glass of La fuga Donnafugata appears a bright straw yellow, with a fragrant bouquet of tropical fruits and citrus notes, along with a fresh and acidic flavor with an acidognola concluding phase.

Wine at the table

The ideal combination of flavors for the Contessa Entellina DOC is with chicken to aromas, fish seconds, savory pies and risottos based on vegetables and seafood.

Curiosity

The Sicilian wine owes its name to the founder of Donnafugata, Gabriella Anca Rallo, with her "escape" to start a new life, passing from books to life among the vineyards.
