Terroir and wine-making

On the Volcano, from the Donnafugata winery, is a surprising wine, with great sharpness. Complex but at the same time refined and with a good drinkability. Etna Bianco Doc is made from Carricante grapes, from the warm lands between Randazzo and Castiglione di Sicilia, on the slopes of Mount Etna. The grapes are harvested in the last decade of September, with a careful selection of grapes in the vineyard before the soft pressing in the cellar. The fermentation takes place in steel, at a controlled temperature of 14 - 15 °C, while the aging lasts 10 months in tanks and French oak, then concludes the production cycle with a rest of 9 months in bottle.

Notes of taste

At first sight, in the glass of Donnafugata On the Etna Bianco volcano you can immediately notice the straw yellow with golden reflections. The nose of the wine offers an elegant aromatic bouquet of apple and citrus, along with Mediterranean herbs with mineral notes of flint. In the mouth, the white Donnafugata is fresh and savory, persistent and with a marked minerality and persistence.

Wine at the table

The wine Donnafugata Sul Vulcano white is perfectly matched with dishes of Mediterranean fish, first vegetarian, crustaceans and porcini mushrooms.

Curiosity

On the label are typical colors of warm Sicily: black, red and yellow. It stands out a volcano goddess that immediately transmits the power and energy of the peculiar terroir located in the center of the Mediterranean.
